Ercisson MINI-LINK CN 1010, ETSI



















MINI-LINK CN 1010 is a Cost effcient and Compact Mobile Backhaul Gateway that  focuses on aggregating Ethernet and TDM traffic from multiple generation RBS’s into an optical packet network. .It provides Ethernet aggregation and P2P fiber backhaul at non microwave sites, with circuit emulation of TDM traffic.

RBS interface and demarcation point
As a Mobile Backhaul Gateway MINI-LINK CN 1010 is located at the edge of the Mobile transport network interfacing directly to the Radio Base Stations; providing backhaul
transmission for existing and future bandwidth demanding mobile broadband services.

MINI-LINK CN 1010 provides E1/DS1 emulation at the backhaul interface for 2G networks and Fast Ethernet/Gigabit Ethernet for 3G/ 4G backhaul. The backhaul service is supported by MEF-defined Ethernet virtual connections: point-to-point E-Line and multipoint-to-multipoint E-LAN services.

MINI-LINK CN 1010 serves as both a circuit emulation  gateway, and as a pure demarcation point. The device enables the separation of different network segments as well as different business responsibility areas.

MINI-LINK CN 500 and the future MINI-LINK 70/80 GHz outdoor GbE radio can also be enhanced by MINI-LINK CN 1010. It then provides the addition of Circuit Emulation Services, Multiple Ethernet ports and Service OAM.

Ethernet switching
The integrated non blocking Gigabit Ethernet switch (IEEE 802.1Q and 802.1ad compliant) has a switching capacity of 8 Gbps Full duplex. Ethernet Protection MINI-LINK CN 1010 offers multiple protection options like LAG (802.1AX Link Aggregation), Ethernet Ring Protection (ITU G.8032v2) and RSTP/MSTP.

Quality of Service
Service differentiation (802.1 p-bits) and traffic separation (VLAN) together with 8 priority queues and traffic scheduling makes MINI-LINK CN 1010 prepared for diverse QoS configurations. The QoS is Ethernet, IP and MPLS aware. MINI-LINK CN 1010 provides Carrier Grade QoS functions like SPQ, WFQ, WRED and Policing.

Both ingress and egress Policing are available for configuring Service Levels that enable network carriers to provide end-to-end guaranteed bandwidth and service level agreements.

Connection-oriented logical flows can be established with MEF 10.1 defined Service Attributes: Committed Information Rate (CIR), Committed Burst Size (CBS), Excess Information Rate (EIR), and Excess Burst Rate (EBS). The attributes are  configurable per flow.

Virtual LAN (VLAN)
MINI-LINK CN 1010 supports VLAN tagging (IEEE802.1Q) and Provider Bridge (802.1ad).

Ethernet OAM
As part of end-to-end network solutions, MINI-LINK CN 1010 complies to Link OAM
(IEEE 802.3ah) and Ethernet Service OAM FM (IEEE802.1ag); together with Ethernet Service OAM PM (ITU-T Y.1731).

Circuit Emulation Service
MINI-LINK CN 1010 provides circuit emulation services for legacy E1/DS1 TDM interfaces.
The SAToP (Structure Agnostic TDM over Packet) emulation method disregards any structure that may be imposed on the data stream; e.g. the standard framing as defined in ITU-T G.704.

The emulation endpoints do not interpret the TDM structure nor participate in the TDM signaling. The CESoPSN (Circuit Emulation Service over Packet Switched Network) emulation is a structure aware Pseudowire encapsulation method. The ITU-T G.704 TDM structure can be identified, and recreated at the remote end. MINI-LINK CN 1010 is hence well equipped to cater for the needs of different network technologies and
CES head-end requirements.

Clock Synchronization

MINI-LINK CN 1010 has a comprehensive range of synchronization possibilities. This makes it prepared for a variety of synchronization scenarios.

The Gateway allows different clock sources:
  • Synchronous Ethernet, (ITU-T G.8261/G.8262/G.8264) • Precision Time Protocol, PTP, (IEEE 1588v2 client)
  • Adaptive clock recovery based on the RTP packet stream from the Packet Switched Network (PSN).
  • E1/DS1 Line clock
  • Local clock
MINI-LINK CN 1010 furthermore provides a separate 2 MHz clock input and output sync port, as well as a sync port dedicated for TDD base station sync requirements, such as Time Of Day (TOD) and 1pps input.

IP multicast
MINI-LINK CN 1010 supports multicast streaming by use of IGMP v2/v3 (Internet Group Management Protocol) snooping.

Alarm Interface

The alarm interface of the MINI-LINK CN 1010 provides four alarm inputs together with two alarm outputs.

Management

Management is handled by ServiceOn EM. Local management can be performed by either using the Local Craft Tool (LCT) or a Command Line Interface (CLI).

Cooling
MINI-LINK CN 1010 comes with a front-mounted fan unit. The fan unit can be replaced without traffic interruption.

Power
Power is supplied by -48 V DC through dual fuse protected power inlets.Subrack solutions
MINI-LINK CN 1010 is ready for wall-mounting or installation in 19”/ETSI racks.

MINI-LINK CN 500 is the latest addition to the MINI-LINK family. It is a compact and cost efficient microwave transmission node, built with  simplicity in mind. It is an extension to the highly successful MINI-LINK TN node concept and is specifically optimized for end sites, single hops, and enterprise access. It uses the MINI-LINK outdoor units and is available for 1+0 and 1+1 configurations.

High performance radio link
MINI-LINK CN 500 is a high performance radio link with best in class radio output power resulting in longer hops with smaller antennas. MINI-LINK C N 500 and MINI-LINK TN are complementary products and hop compatible.

MINI-LINK CN 500 is LTE ready

MINI-LINK CN 500 is LTE ready and offers full support for all IP RAN over Ethernet Backhaul. MINI-LINK CN 500 is also perfect for TDM to packet migration. MINI-LINK CN 500 is a Hybrid Node, perfect for both TDM to packet migration and for all IP. The Hybrid Radio Link can transport Native Ethernet and Native PDH simultaneously over the hop.

MINI-LINK CN 500 provides a complete packet and TDM solution with PDH and Ethernet in the same node with the necessary quality of service. This simplifies both the network handling and the network evolution to all IP. Hitless adaptive modulation is perfect for telecom grade – and best effort traffic combinations.

In normal weather conditions a high modulation scheme is used with a high capacity throughput. If the weather becomes unfavourable the modulation will automatically be stepped down without packet loss to ensure that the priority traffic still gets through.

MINI-LINK CN 500 is fully supporting all IP networks with high capacities. The hitless adaptive modulation enables modulation changes without traffic interruption or bit errors, resulting in telecom grade transmission regardless of which modulation
is used.

The minimum constant delay of the adaptive modulation also ensures a high quality network sync transport over packet, which is critical in packet networks. The Native Ethernet is aligned with LTE and X2 requirements. MINI-LINK CN 500 is QoS aware using any protocol; Ethernet, IP or MPLS. MINI-LINK CN 500 is a Network Cost Saver; it is compact and easy to install.

Market leading reliability
The market leading reliability of MINI-LINK includes a field proven MTBF of typically over 70 years. MINI-LINK CN 500 is used in a number of different scenarios:

  • New roll-out of mobile backhaul networks; in mobile backhaul networks MINI-LINK CN 500 is a perfect fit at the end site with MINI-LINK TN on the other side of the hop, at the aggregation site, fully supporting the all IP network end to end.

MINI-LINK CN 500 is the all-outdoor solution
The all-outdoor solution speeds up and facilitates roll out even further with no need for a site building.

Existing MINI-LINK customers can
save time, money, space and reduce upgrade risks by re-use of the installed base; introduce Native Ethernet at end nodes by replacing MINI-LINK E with the space optimized MINI-LINK CN 500, without replacing the actual outdoor units, nor the cabling to the outdoor units.

Network Synchronization
MINI-LINK CN 500 supports transport of synchronization signal across the hop. The  synchronization signal is carried over the radio hop without occupying any bandwidth allocated for payload traffic.

The input/output interface is an E1 (2 Mbit/s) port among the 16 inputs on the front panel. Delay Regarding delay performance, delay per link for Priority traffic is <0.8 ms for radio link (TDM and Packet) capacities below 50 Mbit/ s and <0.5 ms for radio link capacities above 50 Mbit/s. Delay Variation for priority traffic is <0.5 ms per link.

Hybrid Radio Link Native Ethernet and Native PDH are supported over the microwave radio link.  The maximum air interface rate over one radio is 345 Mbit/s; the maximum line interface rate over one radio is 347-426 Mbit/s depending on compression and frame size.

Adaptive modulation
The Radio Link supports hitless adaptive modulation for 4-256 QAM over 7-28 MHz
channels.
